This morning the remaining three protestors were bailed out and returned home. Thank you to all who supported them and made their release possible.
Some words from the arrestees:
Upon returning, Dea Goblirsch remarked, “The sound of the river has never been so good! I’m glad I did what I did and I would do it again, but it is nice to be out in the world again with my friends.”
Laura Von Dohlen, who played a support role on site, said, “Feels great to be back. The action went well, mine security was really nice. I’m happy to have been part of something so successful.”

welcome home!
awesome work, we love ya’ all !
SAVE COAL RIVER MOUNTAIN
Save coal river mountain for what? A fantasy wind project with no investors. I’ll try one more time, who are the people itching to throw their money away on a project that will NEVER happen.
Hello WATCHER,
After all this is over and our mountains are safe from MTR, I hope that you and your friends will be able to find a new “fire-builder and food-giver”.
Watcher, glad to hear that was your last try. “If we stop it (the MTR), they (the wind investors) will come.” Trust me, they’re waiting in the wings.
No greater love has any man than he lay down his life for his friends. I will never cease to be amazed at the acts of kindness and concern that these young men and women have shown towards folks whom they have never met. Laura, De, Grace, and Nick, you are truly heroes in our house.
I want to say I am sorry for all the hate filled messages that have been directed toward your group. I do not wish any harm on any of you. I do want you to know that we locals do not want you here. You claim that you are fighting for us. You claim becaused you stopped the coal production you saved the earth one more day. For every action their is an equal and opposite reaction.
You may have stopped a meal for a child somewhere. I know that when I recieve extra money, be it thru a bonus or overtime, I make more donations to causes that I see important, i.e. feeding a homeless child in another country or donating money to the Salvation Army. When I don’t get to work for whatever reason I have less money thus am less able to make such contributions. The people who work at these sites are not there because it’s where they want to hang out. They are there to earn money. They don’t go begging for handouts from strangers to get someone out of jail because they broke a law, as your group does.
They work and they donate to causes that matter. Feeding children. I do admire your passion, but if you would take that energy and apply it to what matters then you would be better off.
I do have questions for you. You claim that the area would be better off with out our coal mines. Do you have ONE name of a local supporter that has income? Income that does not come from coal? And if you do, where does it come from? If your goals are reached where do you see the residents? How do you suppose that we support our families. You claim that the windmills will create jobs. Will these jobs pay as the coal industry does? Will they sustain this area? Will they ensure that the pensions and retirements of the miners remain intact?
SID, I’m sure my fire-builder and food-”earner” won’t be a windmill on coal river mountain.
